Two Months (Once Again)

So, yes, it's once again been two months since I've posted and, yes, I'm going to pretend that people still check my blog every day waiting for some small sign of life. Hasn't been much, has there?

A lot has happened over the past 3 months. I'll break it down by month (and in the process link to some new flickrs):

November:

--Presented a paper on cross-sited narratives at SLSA in Chicago with Palms and Lies and Fish.
--Passed my oral exams (but you already know that).
--Got hooked (and did the hooking of many, many people) on Guitar Hero, a game that bodes well for Nintendo's strategy to broaden the gaming marketplace.
--Cooked a massive Thanksgiving dinner (well, massive for four people, at least).

December:

--Got myself a new tattoo.
--Went to NYC for the New Year-- a first for me-- and saw The Black Crowes (and their celebrity entourage) at MSG (first time there, too).

January:

--Began TA-ing CMLT 214: Film Form and Culture, an introductory film course at UMdCP.
--Discovered the utterly brilliant Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2. I've been trying ever since to not beat the game. It's that good.

February:

--Had quite a scare with my father's health. All is well now, though.
--Continued to prepare a paper for SCMS in Vancouver on ideal readers, ideal texts and (you guessed it) cross-sited narratives (a huge thank you to MITH for the travel award that made this trip possible).
--Somehow survived the "big" winter storm of 2006, and laughed watching people lug 5 gallons of milk and water up four flights of stairs in preparation (I'm originally from Buffalo, NY, where 12" is a dusting).

And so it goes. I'm also in the process of readying my dissertation prospectus for submission, and looking forward to what will certainly be an interesting semester of research. Dada is coming to DC, and so are the Buffalo Sabres. One thing I can promise-- I will be back. Soon. Sooner than two months, at least.

Cue the sound of crickets.
